For all of those who have been taught to "jump" the weight up (I include myself in this group), it is worthwhile to investigate the "catapult technique" which has been advocated by Coach Don McCauley. Where's your head?
Even with the shoulders well behind the barbell on the second pull, the head stays fairly level and the barbell remains close. "Pez head" - as it has been called when the head drops back and the eyes are looking up at the ceiling - will typically lead to the arms swinging out and the barbell leaving close proximity to the body.
